We hear dramatic music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tYhrPeHmY0), We start the track at 37 seconds as this part is fading in so will work well with the fade in of the titles and credits. It also gives enough time for the music to pick up at 48 seconds and add more atmosphere to the start.
This music is suitable for our opening as we are following conventions and challenging them too, so in this piece the beat drops and changes from orchestral to a modern style beat. We want the film to make the audience feel anxious and hooked from the start, also so they can easily see the twist on the conventions (of which we did) that are associated with the gangster genre. This helps represent what we want the audience to feel as we are adding a new twist to a respected genre.
